How should you survive in this world without losing your mind when the rise of body image standards and their constant shift are more and more prominent?
I know it’s hard, this is not a "how to:" list that will magically make all your doubts disappear. But the best part is that you don’t even need such a thing. You are beautiful just the way you are, no matter how cliché that may sound to you.
I’ve always been intrigued by the paradox that is body image and the way our society sees it. And it takes just a little bit of analysis and disconnecting in order to see how caught up we are in this endless rabbit hole. How can body image standards shift with such speed without us even stopping to question it? How can these trends keep rising when no one wants them to?
It’s simple, through toxicity and fear of change.
Actually, the answer to this dilemma is simple: we have to start seeing our bodies as tools, not as assets. We have to start being thankful for their complexity and love it for its imperfections. We have to expose ourselves to more body types. We are so used to seeing the “right” body types that we forget there are many others out there. We FORGET that we are not alone, and we start having a reticent behavior towards the “new” and unseen.
Have I opened your eyes? I hope I did.
We need to raise awareness about this topic. We don’t need to fear anymore.
